Bow Wow is tired of all of rap legends going broke in Hip Hop and says the culture needs a Board to prevent this from happening again.
“Hip hop needs a board! No different than the NBA w/ the players association. A committee,” he tweeted. That can set rules and keep things in control and protect this thing we call hip hop! And have a retirement plan for the og rappers. I hate seeing my heros liquor’d out no money just washed.”
He isn’t the first rapper to suggest supporting the hip hop elders.
In 2020, Swizz Beatz raised the idea around of contributing $1 million each to Hip Hop founders such as Kool Herc and Sugar Hill Gang. He then talked on Live with LL Cool J, who said he’d be one of the first to donate to the “Hip Hop Founders Fund.”
“You always talk about you about the people, you’re about making sure these icons get the love and the respect and appreciation they supposed to get, and you’ve been pushing it forward,” LL told Swizz.
