Birdman says he doesn’t understand some of the hate towards labels because at one point, it was only the execs keeping the culture alive.

He says it’s time to give execs their flowers too.

“Im confused about 50yrs of hip hop where they salute legendary artists which is well respeked [sic],” he wrote on Instagram. “Also I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great [and] showed them how to keep hip hop alive should be saluted in a major way. I remember wen they said hip hop was dead and we kept it alive YMCMB 20plus summers respek our hussle CEOs kept hip hop alive frfr.”

In the comments section, Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas agreed. “Real talk OG. This should be discussed in a major way. Let’s Go.”

Birdman has been accused several times of exploiting his artists. At one point, Lil Wayne sued him for monies owed…the pair eventually agreed on a settlement.

Birdman has since deleted the post.
