BigXthaPlug spent the night behind bars after being arrested on DWI, marijuana, and firearm charges in Texas, even though he was supposed to headline a Canadian festival.
The “Levels” rapper, whose real name is Xavier Landum, was arrested Friday, Aug. 21, in the Dallas suburb of Allen. BigX had been arrested in the Dallas area on similar drug and firearm charges exactly one year earlier.
The 28-year-old was booked into the Collin County Jail on misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, possession of less than 2 oz. of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to reports citing jail records.
BigX had been due onstage that evening at the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg. Festival organizers told fans he was unable to perform because of a “personal emergency.”
By Saturday, he was out of jail and heading to Iowa for another scheduled show.
“Des Moines, Iowa, I’m on my way,” BigX said in an Instagram Stories video before performing at the Iowa State Fair.
He also spoke about his arrest from the stage.
“They didn’t think I was coming,” he told concertgoers.
BigX later said he had been “praying hard” in jail, telling the crowd, “Please let me make it to Des Moines, Iowa.”
