Big Tigger issued a statement after he was arrested in Fulton County on child cruelty and battery charges tied to an alleged domestic dispute with his wife.
The longtime radio personality and former BET Rap City host, whose legal name is Darian Morgan, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Saturday morning, according to jail records. He faces charges of battery, aggravated battery, and third-degree cruelty to children.
Records show Big Tigger was released later that day after posting surety bonds totaling about $10,000.
“I unequivocally deny every allegation that has been made against me,” he stated.
“For the past 30+ years, I have built my life around relationships and community. Those who know me know the man, father, husband, and friend I have been throughout my life. Because this is an active legal matter, I am limited in what I can say. What I can say is that I have complete confidence in the facts and in the legal process.”
According to court documents, the charges stem from a May 9 incident at the couple’s home on Jett Ferry Road. His wife told investigators that an argument over text messages on his phone escalated when Morgan allegedly tackled her to the floor to retrieve the device.
She later went to a basement office to unplug a computer, according to an affidavit, and authorities allege Morgan followed her, grabbed her arms, and shoved her toward the exit. The cops say she stumbled headfirst into an office door, suffering a deep cut above her left eye that required numerous stitches and left visible disfigurement a month later.
The celbrity’s wife told investigators she initially feared retaliation and believed no one would accept her account because Morgan is a “well-known celebrity.”
