Beyonce looked gorgeous last night … more gorgeous than usual. She stole the show at the WACO Theater’s Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles, Media Take Out has confirmed.

The star-studded event, which was attended by the likes of Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, JAY-Z, and Michelle Williams boasted a Harlem Nights theme. As is custom, the ceremony (which was sponsored by the likes of Amazon Music and Shea Moisture) saw large sums raised for charitable causes.

Beyonce wore a very form fitting dress, and long gloves – in a homage to Old Harlem. But many of Bey’s fans, Media Take Out has learned, thought that Bey’s look was reminiscent of the 1990s cartoon character Jessica Rabbit.

So what is the charity behind the gala? Well the Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater Center was founded by Richard Lawson and Tina Knowles Lawson, longtime champions of art and mentorship, who opened the visual and performing arts center in 2017.

“As we continue to navigate the setbacks of the pandemic, we are excited for the opportunity to gather again in person and garner support for the artists, audiences and young people that our work serves and will continue to serve,” says Richard Lawson.

“When we started WACO, only two of our mentees said they might go to college. Now that we have had our first graduating class, all 22 kids are going to some type of university, college or trade school to live out their dreams. We are so proud of them,” adds Tina Knowles Lawson.
