Benzino was arrested in Georgia after police say a speeding stop on Interstate 75 led officers to a suspended license and suspected marijuana in the SUV.
The former Love & Hip Hop star and rapper, whose legal name is Raymond Scott, was taken into custody on June 9 in Crisp County, according to an Arabi Police Department incident report.
An officer wrote that a silver SUV was clocked going “91 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone” near the 92-mile marker on Georgia 401. During the stop, Zino allegedly told the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license because of “issues related to child support.”
While speaking with him, the officer said Zino smelled marijuana before the reality star admitted there was marijuana inside and directed officers to where it was located. A bag of suspected marijuana was found in the driver’s side door.
Officers later found a second bag of suspected marijuana under a blanket in the back seat next to passenger Ruth Lewis, the report states. Lewis reportedly told officers the marijuana belonged to her and was arrested.
A records check showed Zino’s license was suspended for multiple offenses, police said. He was transported to Crisp County Jail.
The SUV’s owner, Ashley Bell, told officers he had been driving because she had taken medication and needed to sleep. Bell was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle. They were both booked into jail.
Benzino has had several brushes with the law over the years. Last year, fans were shocked when video footage of his 2022 arrest following an eviction hit the internet.
