Diehard MAGA supporter Ben Shapiro has turned on Vice President JD Vance over his response to growing backlash inside the MAGA movement about U.S. involvement in Iran.
During a recent episode of The Ben Shapiro Show, the conservative commentator slammed Vance for remarks he made at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia. At the event, Vance acknowledged frustration from younger conservatives over Middle East policy.
“I recognize that a lot of young voters don’t love the policy that we have in the Middle East,” Vance said, urging them not to “disengage.”
Shapiro argued that Vance was trying to satisfy too many competing factions within Donald Trump’s political base.
“You have to feel a little bit bad for Vice President Vance,” said Shapiro. “But now, because of his connections to Tucker or his desire to maintain Trump’s coalition, a coalition that is broad and complex, he’s been relegated to placating the crazies.”
Shapiro also called Vance out for defending Tucker Carlson, who has opposed the war and U.S. support for Israel.
“It is not possible to humor low IQ slop and then assume it will not have consequences,” Shapiro said.
Vance has been attempting to balance support from different corners of the conservative movement ahead of a possible 2028 presidential run following last week’s backlash, when Trump posted an image seemingly depicting himself as a Jesus-like figure.
