Barack Obama Condemns ‘Despicable’ Assassination Of Charlie Kirk

Former President Barack Obama has reacted to the assassination of conservative Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was shot during a visit to Utah Valley University. He was shot once in the neck. His children were in the audience looking on during the hit.

“We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy,” Obama wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Former President Joe Biden mirrored Obama’s statement, writing, “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now.”

Kirk’s killing comes two months after Minnesota House Democratic leader Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were assassinated in their home by a man impersonating a police officer.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the killing a “politically motivated assassination”. The shooter, later identified as Vance Boelter, also shot and injured Democratic State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in a separate attack.

Despite the political violence, Trump told reporters that he is not concerned about his safety.

“Not really,” said Trump. “I’m really concerned for our country. We have a great country. We have a radical left group of lunatics out there, just absolute lunatics, and we’re going to get that problem solved. I’m only concerned for the country.”
