After news that Kim Kardashian is reportedly “re-evaluating” her deal with Balenciaga, the brand released a statement apologizing for their controversial ad campaign, many have accused of being child pornography.
“We would like to address the controversies surrounding our recent ad campaigns. We strongly condemn child abuse; it was never our intent to include it in our narrative. The two separate ad campaigns in question reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility,” the brand wrote.
Balenciaga is now suing the production company behind its Spring 2023 ad campaign after paperwork about a Supreme Court ruling on child pornography was identified in one of the images. On the table in the ad was a page from the 2008 Supreme Court ruling in United States v. Williams, a case “which confirms as illegal and not protected by freedom of speech the promotion of child pornography.”
Kim has not yet decided to walk away from the brand.
