Azealia Banks is weighing in on Dave Chappelle’s latest comments about his jokes involving the transgender community.
After Chappelle recently said he “resents” Republicans using his comedy to support anti-LGBTQ+ politics, Banks responded with a series of posts on X accusing the comedian of hypocrisy.
“Tbh Dave Chappelle IS genuinely a tr*nny chaser,” Banks wrote.
Banks claimed Chappelle once spent hours talking to two of her transgender friends during a night out in New York City.
“He was sweating my two trans friends for like 4 hours after The Box in NYC,” she wrote.
Her comments followed Chappelle’s remarks to NPR earlier this month, in which he said he was upset by how his material had been used politically.
Tbh Dave Chappelle IS geniunely a tranny chaser. He was sweating my two trans friends for like 4 hours after the box in NYC the bartender actually had to come and ask us to leave https://t.co/tX1k8ZTmE3

“I did resent that the Republican Party ran on transgender jokes,” Chappelle said. “I felt like they were doing a weaponized version of what I was doing, and that’s not what I was doing.”
Banks continued sharing her thoughts in several additional posts, saying Chappelle failed to understand how his comedy had been received. When one social media user asked whether she had transgender friends, Banks replied that she did.
“I’m not gonna be corny like protect the dolls but I be protecting them b—hes,” she wrote.
Chappelle has faced criticism for years over jokes about transgender people in his stand-up specials, including Sticks & Stones, The Closer and The Dreamer.
