The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis following serious allegations stemming from his time at the University of Michigan.
Lewis, who joined the Falcons earlier this month, was let go February 27, one day after a report detailed accusations of rape and battery tied to an alleged December 2024 incident in Ann Arbor. The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed it has launched an active investigation.
“We are aware of allegations regarding LaTroy Lewis,” the Falcons said in an initial statement. A follow-up announcement confirmed the team “have dismissed” him.
According to reports, the accuser claims she connected with Lewis through a dating app before traveling to Ann Arbor for work, where she alleges he assaulted her in a hotel room. Her attorney described his behavior as “increasingly aggressive” and said her client later sought a protective order.
Lewis’ attorney, Fabiola A. Galguera, denied the claims. “Allegations of sexual misconduct are not proof of sexual misconduct,” she said. “Mr. Lewis intends to fiercely fight these false allegations.”
Lewis had been on staff at Michigan before his recent hiring in Atlanta. The investigation remains ongoing.
