Amanda Seales is denying that she is jealous of Issa Rae, pushing back on claims that she envies her former Insecure costar’s career, marriage and Hollywood connections.
During a recent livestream, Seales addressed a comment implying that Rae has the life she wants.
“Baby, if that is what she desires, bless her,” Seales said.
Seales expressed that her own entertainment career began decades ago and argued that Rae’s path has nothing to do with how she measures her own success.
“I have had a Hollywood career 1994,” she said, later adding that people “will try to diminish your path because of somebody else’s.”
The actress also praised Rae for successfully bringing Insecure from an idea to HBO.
“Someone said I’m jealous of Issa Rae because she has the Hollywood career, Hollywood friends and the marriage.”

“I have nothing but respect for the ability to get something from your mind onto the page and onto the screen,” Seales remarked. “That is a huge feat in itself.”
Seales, who played Tiffany DuBois on the hit show, has publicly discussed her complicated experiences surrounding the series.
She also pushed back on claims that her own career is struggling, declaring, “I am an icon,” and saying she has stepped away from chasing traditional Hollywood success.
“I don’t have a career,” Seales declared. “I have freedom.”
