Infowars creator has filed for bankruptcy after being ordered by courts to pay about $1.5 billion in damages to Sandy Hook families hurt by his conspiracy theories.
Jones reportedly listed his assets at between $1 million and $10 million and his debts at between $1 billion and $10 billion, according to the Washington Post.
Families of the victims say the star is claiming he is broke to avoid paying the judgments.
Eight families of Sandy Hook victims accused Jones of using his platform to spread unfounded conspiracy theories about the 2012 school shooting, which left 20 children and six adults dead. The court ruled in their favor and ordered Jones to pay $965 million in compensatory damages to the plaintiffs.For years, Jones claimed the Sandy Hook mass shooting was a hoax. During the trial, he admitted the shootings were not a hoax but it was too late.
