Compton rapper/podcaster AD recalled the first time he ever met Kendrick Lamar.
“You want to know a crazy thing about Kendrick, bro?. My first encounter with him he thought I was somebody else. He lowkey tried to press me,” he says in the clip.
“I guess some n-ggas jumped him back in the day. And I came to the studio and he was mad. He was like, ‘You from Almond block?’ And I was like, ‘Nahh.’ Almond Block is another hood in Compton. He was like, ‘You is from Almond Block’ and I was like, ‘Nah I’m over here,’ and we were cool after that. But he was mad like, if I was from Almond Block, he would’ve got his get back on me that day.”
Kendrick’s producer Dahi recently chopped it up with Rolling Stone and says a new album is possible.
“With this creative process it’s really just getting those ideas out and then being able to come back and be like, ‘Oh, I can use this or this part of this.’ His process of recording is pretty nuts. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we looked at the hard drive and he has thousands of songs,” he said.
