Actor Blair Underwood announced yesterday that he was getting married, to his longtime friend, a beautiful New York woman named Josie Hart.
The news left many of his fans startled, because Blair’s new fiance was his “close friend” throughout his 27 year marriage to wife Desiree. Desiree filed to divorce Blair in June of last year.
As Media Take Out reported, Blair and Desiree tied the knot in 1994 and share three kids together — 24-year-old son Paris, 22-year-old daughter Brielle and 19-year-old son Blake.
Blair first became friends with his new fiancé in 1981, nearly 13 years before marrying Desiree – so they have history.
Blair and Desiree recently divorced after 27 years of marriage and Blair announced his new relationship in a post on Instagram. He said “My personal highlight was walking the red carpet with my new fiancée Josie Hart. The most amazing, brilliant, beautiful, hilarious, thought provoking & insightful person I know who continuously lives life out-loud.”
The handsome actor continued, saying, “The future is crazy-bright Girl! None of us ever know where God will guide our paths.”
Then Blair explained how he and Josie had been friends during his entire marriage. Blair told his fans, “She’s had my back since before I even became an actor. When a 41 year friendship slaps you in the back of the head & blossoms into romance, you stand up, pay attention & step forward in gratitude.”
