A$AP Rocky has been charged in connection with a 2021 shooting in Hollywood and now faces two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm with allegations of personally using a firearm.
“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a news release. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”
A$AP was not arrested until April for the alleged crime.
An LAPD press release alleged an argument took place between Rocky and the victim near Vista Del Mar and Selma Avenue.
“The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim,” the statement reads. “The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment. Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot. Detectives worked diligently to investigate and corroborate the reporting information, which helped identify the suspect(s) involved.”
The rapper was arrested and police served a search warrant on the rapper’s home dressed in full riot gear and used a battering ram to access Rocky’s property. The alleged victim was recently identified as A$AP Relli.
