Atlanta rapper 2Chainz hopped online to announce his exit from his longtime record label, Def Jam Records.

The rapper posted a video of himself playing basketball in Abu Dabi.

“I wanna make a huge announcement. Starting last week, I am now an independent artist,” he said. “That’s right, I’m not re-signing with Def Jam. So think of it like KD or like LeBron — the biggest free agent in the game.”

The rapper first signed to the label back in 2012. Prior to signing with Def Jam, Chainz was signed to Ludacris’ label Disturbing Tha Peace and eventually bought himself of the contract.

“I just woke up and said, ‘I don’t want to do it,’” 2 Chainz said on Everyday Strggle at the time. “They told me, ‘You just can’t leave like that.’ He said some sh-t about Puffy and Mase. And I said, ‘This ain’t no Puffy and Mase.’ And then I had to find me a lawyer, and then I ended up getting out [of the deal]. I had to pay him $100k per album, and I think, some other little, like a point, which to me, I’ve made $100k so many times, it was a pretty good deal to get out of it.”
