Now you just changed the question from what it was. Your original statement was Red States doing better than Blue States, and I said why they were able to balance their budget and it is because they take welfare from Blue States. But I will answer your question... Red States consistently rank in the bottom of every quality of life standard. Schools are poorly run, lower unemployment numbers are because nobody wants to live there because of low wages and substandard education. Blue States have a lot more problems than Red States because of larger populations. When you look at Red States with large populations, like Texas, you see they have the same problems. They might have decent employment but their deficit was larger than California's, and they don't even provide good services for their people.
Who cares AFTER 9/11... the fact is that 9/11 DID happen under Bushes Presidency. He started a new war against Iraq that had nothing to do with 9/11, and he ignored Afghanistan, another war he started. Tragically, several people have been killed in the past few days from our embassies; but how many were killed on 9/11? And how many were killed during these wars the past 12 years? And if Romney is President, how fast will we be sucked into a disastrous war with Iran? Republicans seem to think war is a form of foreign policy.

If not, they will destroy their country and just as in the Iraq war Bush initiated, we all paid for it in the tune of 87 billion dollars sent to Iraq to rebuild that county, and that does not include the billions more stolen or inconveniently lost by the Halliburton contractors.
As to the Repubs, I have yet to hear them say exactly how they would have handled this crisis or any others to come besides bombing the country or initiate another war American cannot afford. The reason why I won't be voting for romney is clear to me; I don't make over $250k, I have used gov't subsidized financial aid programs to pay for college, my mother is a union supported school teacher, and I just started a small business. At this point in my life Obama's policies benefit me. Who ever you vote for is your business but I vote for the candadite that will best fit my needs at that point in my life.

Greg I totally agree. We need to look at alternate energy. One of the stocks I invest in is a rechargable battery maker that was going under. The were partially funded by govt subsidies, however, sales were somewhat slow. In order to get away from depending on oil from the middle east we need to push to get away from it. We didn't do that and many companies we poured money into like Solyndra were tanking because the tech wasn't being used. For example, my city is looking into the power company huge $400k bonus to the CEO and other board members. That money could have been used to buy power grids and solar panels that lower utility costs for the city! People that have solar panels on their homes sometimes get checks from the utility company because it generates and produces more power than is being used. With the extra energy supplied to the power company they pay back the property owners.
The rechargable car battery company I invest in was about to tank. The Chinese came and made an agreement to inject $425m into the company. Why? Because China wants a mass amount of electric cars on the road within a few years. They are smart! They are trying to get away from the dependance on oil, and they also see this as an opportunity to buy established tech for cheap and America is just giving it away. Initially Congress was having an issue with it because we injected a lot of money into this company and to let the Chinese take our tech was a serious issue. But they had no choice or the company would have folded. We don't want technology so someone else will come in and use it. We look like fools and this is not the only company they have snapped up at bargain prices. Imagine saving 100s on gas. What could you do with that money? We should be ahead but yet we are so far behind.
