The fact that Gabby's story isn't number one on this tabloid site annoys me. Why can't we bring positivity up here for once?

Gabby Douglas is the first African American female to win gold for the individual all-around & the first American to win 2 gold medals at the same Olympics (team gold & individual all around gold).

I read her story. I cheered.

And I am proud that she is from my state (VA) and my metro area (Hampton Roads 757!!! She reps Va Beach).

That girl is a ray of sunshine .

First off, kudos and congratulations to young Ms. Douglas but I must concur with the other commenters....the views are always low when MTO focuses on the positive. When trash or lower tier culture is the focus, the Gabbys of the world get overlooked. And then there are the tweets about this young lady's hair. WTF!! She is getting medals and accolades for her athleticism but Black folks (women, specifically..I think) are focusing on her hair? Is she supposed to wear a "Caucasian hair hat" (aka weave) while twisting in the air? Would these detractors like it more if a track to were to fall out while she is executing a gymnastic move? The shame of Blackness runs so deep with many Black women that they will NEVER be completely comfortable about their hair! 300 years of slavery and colonialism has just been too damaging to the Black psyche to offset victimization. I guess she is as honest as one can expect nowadays..... What is WRONG with our men and women? You are literally showing the world that you GLUE Caucasian (or Asian) hair on your skulls. Has Black pride literally evaporated into mist from the 60s/70s? The promotion of lower tier Black folk for profit appears to be the new business model nowadays. Sure, Whites promote their version of trash as well but they also have alternatives and therefore there's balance.
