I think alot of ya'll are mixing up the meaning between "lip synching" and using a "backing Track". Singers will lip sync sometimes when they are on tour or doing a heavy performance, but usually they'll use a backing track. Thats what all the singers used last night that actually "PERFORMED" used. Beyonce, Kelly, Ciara...Rappers usually dont use Backing tracks becuase they use Hype Men.

Looks & sounds to me like he was not so much lipsyncing but he was attempting to talk over the music a lil bit.
