BUT I was dying laughing as I read this entire post as it resonates so well from experiences with having a gay roommate and meeting his supposedly straight, wanna-be straight / thug acting dates. I attended college in Atlanta (the self-proclaimed Black Gay Mecca) and saw gay men, both open and closeted, on a daily basis.
My BEST friend is gay, and unfortunately one of the finest and intelligent brothas I've ever met in my life, 6'2 mocha, 6 pack, body to die for, not a inch a fat, and breaks the scale at 200.
With that said LADIES Masculine looking guys (baby, or no baby) should not be overlooked as being homosexual. If these two guys are still invested in sexual relationships with their babys mothers or with women in general with no protection I AGREE, TAKE THEM TO THE SHOOTING RANGE AND HAVE AT IT, as this type of behavior is the culprit for a small percentage of new HIV cases in women.
HOWEVER, Ladies EVERY MAN IS NOT GAY nor should their sexuality be questioned in a demeaning way should you ever begin to ponder. I know a friend who lost out on a good guy by being over presumptuous and verbally insensitive and now hes happily married. Such questions can make a man think less of himself by the even thought any women would see him as such. Though I think some of her insecurities were to my fault after I introduced her to my roommate and his guy friends who all were gay and looked similar physically, it still does not take away from how Ignorant men and women can be in their choice of words or actions. I know a friend who lost out on a good guy by being over presumptuous and verbally insensitive and now hes happily married. Im not naïve to the fact that prison has created a subculture of forced
homosexuality among AA menI am not blind to fact that there is a subculture of
DL, bisexual and homosexuals in the African community as a whole. And I
understand the LAW of NUMBERS, which indicates the problems affecting a large
group will magnify when examined in a much smaller group or sample set.
My argument was never about the subculture of homosexuality in the African
Community....whether we are comparing males or femalesit is in plain view for
all to see.
My argument rest on the contention of black women and some black men that
believe a large component of HIV/AIDS cases in African American women is due
mostly to DL BLACK MEN..
You see, I have a several problems with this accusationits making a broad
assumption that I am not ready to accept.
Assumption:
For your accusation to be true, then black women would have had to live in a
vacuumand their only sexual exploits were confined to black men who are on the
DL. In this day and age, I would be stupid to believe that the only sexual
partners of black women are exclusively black men.
You know, it was shown that the age group of women who are prone to HIV and AIDS
are between 18 to 35. What does this age group tells you?
For one, it tells me that their young, entering college, and just settling into
a job, profession and career. And the fact that they are young, suggest they
are more prone to date across the spectrum (this new generation of black men and
women are more open to alternative lifestyles).
Secondly, there are more black girls entering college than black menso, it
stands to reason many black girls will more than likely meet men from different
socio-economic backgroundsand being young and liberate, they will engage in all
type sexual proclivities with many type of men. If you been to college, you
will understand what I mean.
Young professional black women will more likely enter workforces where again
they will encounter different types of menstatistics shows there are a lot of
workplace romances takes place after hours.
More and more black women are upwardly mobilemeaning, they dont stay in one
placethere were reports of black women traveling to Jamaica or other exotic
islands to satisfy their sexual desires.
You seeantidumb, black women outnumber black men by a couple of millionsand
youve heard these caverats on here, claiming that there arent enough good
black men.So, I dont understand how a group of males who are so few in number
can impact a group of female who far outnumber them.
Unless you can show me numbers, actual data that indicates the rise in HIV/AIDS
cases in young African women is attribute specifically to Black men who are on
the DL.I am more likely to believe that its not black men who are infecting
these women, but other groups of men. |

Where do you live because NO I cannot GRASP what you are saying and I hail from New York, and now live in North Carolina.

Maybe because I can speak of that fact that despite being an exception there is GREAT HESITANCE and still a barrier. Black men view their actions as a conquest, and it's looked upon in that way too. Even by White Men.
In the past Black men particularly in the spotlight( I told you it's a blown up illusion in everyday life though MORE prevalent then Black women) they have defined different rules for themselves. I can count the women of the past who had White husbands, and those that did mainly represented the spotlight also.
Nope some Black women may date outside their race but that ENERGY IS NOT STRONG, these incidents are DISPERSED, NOT CONCENTRATED and it's NOT THE NORM.

I disagree with the whole DL issue (just be gay - be free), but I certainly understand and see the pressures involved with having to maintaining that sort of imagine.
