I'm bored...so here goes...
The majority of the Black folk in here say they look stinky and broke...
Let me take it BACK to High School...AGAIN.
The "label ***", male and female, rode the bus. Or shall I say, the ones who were startched down, Jordans, reaking of cologne (for what), you know, trying to look like a preppy rapper...
The students whose parents had LOOOOOONG money, well it was evident in the Mercedes they were picked up in after school. They may have worn Tommy, LaCoste, Abercrombie, American Eagle, but they didn't GO ALL OUT w/ it b/c they KNEW their worth.
Besides, why do the labels on OUR clothing have to be so BIG?? Hmmm...
I never owned a Starter jacket, even though they were expensive at the time and everybody and their moma had one and I KNEW my dad could afford it, I just didn't see the point in those big *** bubble plastic things. Funny how ALL the Black guys (who to this day aren't doing sh*t) had one! I remember when my girfriend and I pulled up at one our classmates place of employment in HER Mercedes. I felt so bad for dude b/c back in the day he didn't want to give my girl any play. We didn't clown or laugh, but we did talk about how ppl like HIM end up the way they do b/c of how they were raised. I thank God for blessing me with parents who taught me better and kept me humble.
Seriously, if you come from a WEALTHY family, you don't have to go out of your way to CONVINCE folks that YOU DO have money based off of what's in your closet.
Yes, show-offs can have money too, but it's probably settlement money (not USED to it) or they come from a family of braggers and can't help it (***, and THAT's a generational curse). LOL! I need a nap. Anyways...
The problem with Black folks is that they're prioroties are mixed up. Trust! How one dresses isn't the BEST indication of how much paper they have, b/c at the end of the day, if they ARE in the entertainment industry, half the sh*t is GIVEN to them, especially if they have endorsements.
Where I stay, there's a part of town by the water with really nice houses and you will find Honda Civics, Jettas, BMWs, parked in front or in the garage. How many Cadillacs, SUV's on 20s have you seen in the projects?? Even if it's just an incication of association, it tells you ALOT about where ppl's priorities lies. If it's a NICE car and the FACTORY rims are still in tact, then yeah, they may be comfortble, but if it's a NICE car and has rims, they're either a drug dealer, got money from a settlement (b/c that's the FIRST thing they do, buy cars), they're YOUNG and country or simply materialistic and like to show off b/c clearly they're on the OUTSIDE of the car.
I won't lie, I'd put rims on an OLD SKOOL model that I'm fixing up, but that's the point when re-furnishing/finishing old cars. It's fun and more than likely an [alternate] car and for car shows, blah blah...
The ENTIRE Cosby Show cast has paper. ALL OF THEM!!
It's not about quantity, but quality. Don't be fooled into thinking b/c some celebrity is plastered all over the screen everytime you look that they are LIVING LARGE!! Real mofos who have sense can do a little bit here and there, sit on their *** and be cool. Not everyone WANTS IT ALL and HAS TO BE SEEN.
I love to shop, but I won't touch it unless it's on sale. Give me a $10 dress, some flip flops and a baseball cat, a plant and some playdough (ROTFLMAO) and I'm a good girl ;-)
Lisa Bonet and her man look like two of the coolest mofo's on the planet. I don't see broke and dirty. I see comfortable, HAPPY, HEALTHY and FREE!
I'm sorry, but I freakin LOVE the holes in dude's beanie!! Jason is gorgeous and Lisa KNOWS how to pick em!!
