Can someone PLEASE tell me the moment in history when self respect was only related to gender?
I personally will not allow a man to do that to me in a club, HOWEVER, I will also not DATE a man who would do that to a woman in a club. If we as Black women want to talk about raising standards, the we need to talk about raising the standards EQUALLY! There is NOTHING about being a male that excludes you from moral responsbility and non-derading behavior.
Males who disrespect women do so because they are simply disrespectful. You can NOT blame others for YOUR beliefs about women.
For example: you cant walk around cursing at homeless people and then blame their homlessness for YOUR disrespect. Whether or not someone disrespects themselves is THEIR business. That is NOT an excuse for YOUR moral behavior.
If Black women want to have healthy relationships with Black men, then we MUST stop making it easier and easier for them to lack moral character by blaming the woman and saying he is 'just a man being a man'. If being a man is putting your hands in a females butt crack on camera, then we might want to reevaluate our standards for the men in our community.
