Maybe she knows her husband better than anyone else. Maybe he's not cheating, but there are those times when you are in a relationship and have the urge to "get out" for a quick minute, it is up to the person "getting out" to make sure nothing comes back home. People cheat for two reasons either something is missing from their relationship or because they can.
If someone is cheating with multiple people then they are in need some type of counseling because something is wrong with them. Even if they were single that is nasty. (think about it) If your spouse cheat with 1 person then both of you better figure out what's wrong with the relationship and fix it.

I always wondered about their relationship. Just because you have known someone for x amount of years does not mean you should marry them. Now, none of us really know what's in his heart, but I find it convient that after knowing each other for so long and being ok with just being friends that they decide to date and marry once she made it big. Change your environment. Nobody has to give in to this way of living. After her first marriage, this may be Monique's way of telling herself she's compromising. However, don't compromise the sanctity of your marriage. If you'll accept this, you'll accept anything and end up with nothing.

Many of you are missing the context of what she is saying and MTO only gave PART of what she said to Barbara Walters (are any of you really surprised?). What she said is she has a marriage based on love, trust and open communication. She never said her husband was ALLOWED to sleep with other women but if he chooses to it will not be the grounds for divorce. Too many women get hung up on trying to make sure their man/husband doesn't cheat. But if it is in his nature and he was a cheater when you met him you accepted it then and theres nothing more you can do about it.

Many women, not just fat, insecure women take back cheating spouses. Many marriages, not just celebrity marriages, are open. I'll just assume that you're always sure your man isn't cheating on you as most woman like to think. Call it crazy but all the folks I know who divorced didn't have the same openess (by that I mean talking) as the couples I know who openly shared fantasies and invited others into their bedrooms. @ Doll11 I agree with you about it being a personal decision but I have a feeling that Monique has dealt with things like this in the past...so she has made the decision to marry her "friend" of 25 yrs and allow him to sleep around....this can be a dangerous situation....but they seem happy...that ***.ga is smilin his *** off thinking about his side piece....
@FabulouSweetie... Yes, we were married in 1992 and even then open marriages we alive and well. I was 20, he was 21. I just think it's amazing how naive and closed minded WE can be. Her marriage isn't a joke but what is is all this "Men will cheat anyway" and "Stupid black woman". Haha! Last I checked black women aren't getting married much. All this, "Ainy enuff guud men" BS! Again, you fail to realize WOMEN are just as much into telling their husbands how it's gonna be and you know what? He don't want no one but them and wishes not to have lovers of his own!
Well, she IS honest about it. The truth of the matter is, MOST men cheat. I'm not condoning it, I'm not saying it's fair, but it's the truth. Its the nature of the beast. However, how realistic is it for a woman to be ok w/ her husband openly getting it in w/ as many women as he pleases? Now that part is crazy. Sure they are best friends and I believe Monique has sincere confidence in their bond. But just b/c he loves her and they're bestfriends doesn't elimate the possibility of him bringing home hiv or some nasty std/sti. Confidence is great, but let's not be CRAZY.

If thats the way she wants to live fine, but to me that sounds like very low self esteem. ***!gg@'s believe anything that they read. That is a shame. Her words were clearing taken out of context. I saw the interview. She said that her marriage is open, meaning on the communication tip. Most relationship aren't open and that's why the marriage doesn't survive. Each person confiding in other people instead of each other. She ain't got low self esteem, she got an Oscar - crackheads. She just saying that infidelity isn't a concern of hers. She just keeping it real, she knows ALL men cheat (ask ya daddy) and she got enough money to deal with it.
