I have read this story several days ago and it altered my Spirit. I can't fathom someone doing something like this to a baby.
For the folks who are making this a 'black man' issue. Ignorance knows no color. My husband is a man of integrity whom I wouldn't think twice about leaving our daughter with. However, I am in agreement with the fact (or my opinion) that no one will love a child like their parents. I would never trust our daughter around another man. My husband is more overprotective than I am. People talk about us all the time, and we don't care. Our values are solidified when we hear things like this.
As stated earlier, ignorance knows no racial or ethnic boundaries. I think that we should pray for the family instead of pointing the finger. I'm sure that this mother blames herself. That father pretended ignorance about why the predator would then later abduct his son. The last I heard the predator took the boy to some gypsy camp in the woods. I haven't heard anything since ... but we are still getting updates on rich and dead Natalee Holloway. That poor little white boy was abused, because he was neglected by those who were supposed to protect him.
And there are too many more stories like all of these. Poor little Da'Niyah -- if I was the mother, MY ass would be in jail, for attempted murder. They'd have to call in the paddy wagon for multiple assailants, because I'd make sure EVERYBODY was going to get a piece of the motherf/ucker. This is why its so important not to leave your children, especially little girls, when the person you are leaving them w/ is not the childs natural parent.
Its hard to leave children w/ their natural parents and not have anything happen, but you add no relation into the mix and there are a multitude of problems.

I'm a mother 'Gatekeeper' of 2 children and I don't date anymore because of situations like this one. My children are 9 and 11 and it'll be just us until they've both passed 17. Not a long wait, considering I get to enjoy watching them grow up all those years. Now, here's a case when, mom's choice in companionship costed her more than she could pay. How much prayer will it take to be able to forgive herself and him? The man that did it, don't need more pain in his life, he needs help to levels you and I don't understand. And now mother needs help too and not only her, the children of that man and the women that birth his children need help too. Killing him isn't as effective an answer as reaching him, teaching him how to overcome a sickness and hoping he will be willing to change. Where was his parents to teach him how to make responsible choices, even when no one else is watching. Did he know that he can make it without sex? Probably not. I'm guessing he was jealous of the mother's love and attention to the baby over her attention to him. Jealousy is a big issue to overcome. Where is that man's self esteem, pride in his heritage? Respect of life? I bet he listen to the same Rap Artists most of our children listen to now. Rocked out to the same beats. I bet he learned how to pimp a braud and get on the grind like clock work. I bet he didn't play 2pac that morning "Keep your head up" or "Dear Momma". Who taught him to express his hurt to a 10month old baby? Who taught him to sacrifice his time and pleasures for others? I guess now is too late for him to learn? or is it now, that it's caught our attention that he need to learn a lesson in sacrifice and hurt and pain? We (our people), have paid enough, when are we going to learn, grow and teach our own?
If mother had stayed home to raise her children herself, she'd be seen as lazy. I hope our women see now we don't have to have a man to make it and at the same time don't have to become bi/homosexual. I say, leave the sexual companionship alone until a better time in life. Our children are our inheritance. If we don't give our time to them, when they grow older, why should they give their time to us? The mother in this situation wasn't the only one who lost a baby, we all did. Da'Niyah was our child. Now that she's gone, what will we do with the others?
