I for one don�t like saggin pants either but I do however LOVE the Constitution. This is America people. I am from Cincinnati, OH and every year he kkk burns a cross downtown. The police actually stand there with them to protect their right of freedom of speech and expression. The klan can disrespect the entire city, not just black folks as one of his RIGHTS, and you mean to tell me that a grown a** man cant wear his pants the way they want? This is a form of 2008 Jim Crow laws. If our only reaction as a people is to start wearing our pants around our waist, then we will always be subject to this sort of profiling. |

There were speculations that this was racially charged rule, especially sense the mall is located in a predominantly white neighborhood. Some college students, black AND white did an experiment. The black males wore there white tees around the mall for all of twenty mins before they were asked to leave for disobeying the Mall dress code. LMAO! Later that day, the white students walked around the mall the entire afternoon in their white tees, undisturbed! They actually had to go to the mall security and draw attention to the fact that they were wearing white tees! As you could imagine, the rule was expelled shortly after.

You are right. But back in my day, I am only 28, that is what SAGGING was and if I did, boy, didnt GRANDPA, GRANDMAMA, NEIGHBOR, MOM, DAD, PREACHER, ETC, yell, boy, if you dont go and pull your pants up or put a belt on.
You see, it was a MAJOR issue as it is now. It wasnt that we were pulling our pants so low that it caused a scene.
You wont go to jail though for the first picture, just a warning. I guess they have to start somewhere.
And even know, with this as they call it, the "KANYE MOVEMENT" which was actually started by our people in the 70s, tight jeans were once a fashion trend. Even with that, they now have on these tight A** jeans, yet manage a way to squeeze their A** out of them..

They've put this law into effect in some counties here in St. Louis...
I don't know man. I work at a middle school and I have to tell at least two to three boys a day to pull their pants up-not just black boys either. They might as well just walk around in their underwear if they need to sag so low. Not to mention if I see you from the front and your damn package is bulging out...keep that *ish private man. A little clarification on this issue. The new Flint Police Chief, David Dick, a BLACK MAN, saw a need to address a major issue plaguing our youth and decided to do something about it. Saggin, aka [EXPLETIVE], represents a negative part of our culture. As black people we must teach our youngmen to respect themselves and those around them. Show me someone who sags and I'll show you someone that has possibly committed other crimes. It is all relative. The image of a person that sags suggest that the person could be a criminal. Perception is reality. If you dress like a criminal it is percieved that you act like a criminal, so you will be treated like a criminal. See how its all relative? This law/enforcement also gives police probable cause to search you and check to see if you have committed other crimes. |

I'm 33 years old and have never sagged my pants. I go back as far as the tighty-whitey era and we didn't do it back then. Boxers are in now. That's cool, but they're still "UNDERWEAR" and should not be shown.
Sagging pants categorize you automatically as a low-life, uneducated thug, whether or not you belong there. White folks are no smarter than we, but they make the rules and know when to fix themselves up. Self-expression is cool, but we can't allow it to denigrate us as Black men.

"Pull up your pants boy! Nobody wants to see that!" Teenagers across the county hear these words every day. Thanks to the "fashion" trend known as sagging. Parents hate it, teens do it, and small battles rage between them daily over the issue.
Sagging is wearing your pants below or around the buttocks. The underwear is then pulled up slightly so it can be seen. A belt may or may not be worn in order to keep the pants at a certain level. Most teenagers do it because it is comfortable or their friends or favorite music group is doing it, without knowing where it came from and the history behind it.
Some say that sagging got its start in prison as a way to signal to other inmates that they were "available" for a relationship. However, according to my research this is false.
While sagging did start in prison, it resulted from the fact that many of the clothes given to the inmates were too big. Belts weren't allowed because of the potential for suicide attempts when the inmates had them. The style was then adopted by some rap stars and the hip-hop industry, then migrated to other music genres and has since become fad for teens of all ethnicities. (Young rap duo Kris Kross are often credited with popularizing sagging. See photo above.)
So why do teens (mainly male) sag? Is it purely to spite their parents and other authority figures? Julian, 16, and Alex, 16, sag for different reasons.
"It's more comfortable than wearing them [the pants] high up around the waist," says Alex. "If you wear your pants high, you look nerdy," says Julian.
When asked what they thought girls thought about guys who sag and how it looks, they both say that they believe girls don't mind it, and may actually prefer it.
On the contrary. Heather, 16, says sagging looks unprofessional, dirty and unattractive, adding that she doesn't need to see any guy's boxers. Margaret, 17, agrees, calling it was gross and unattractive. She also says it's annoying to see a guy constantly pulling up his pants.
Parents seem to dislike this trend even more than these girls do. Alex says his parents constantly tell him to pull his pants up. My parents even threaten to punish me or take away luxury items. My mom is convinced that the only reason teens wear their pants that way is to anger their parents.
"I understand that this style is a fashion statement of a certain music genre (i.e. Hip-hop/Rap)," says William Hintz, principal at Menomonee Falls High School. "However, this style has no place in traditional places such as school and work. We are trying to make young people see that wearing clothes in this fashion is unnecessary. After high school, this style is unacceptable at every work place."
The issue has even landed in statehouses. In February 2005, the Virginia House of Delegates passed a bill that would impose a $50 fine on anyone wearing pants so low that underwear was visible. Louisiana lawmakers attempted to pass a similar law a year earlier. Both bills were rejected by their states' Senates.
Ultimately, sagging appears to be the semi-rebellious fashion statement of this generation's culture, much like teens having long hair or wearing mini-skirts in the '60s and '70s. Their parents didn't like it and didn't understand it, just like parents these days don't like or understand sagging. |

As a black man it is embarrassing to see these ni88as with their pants below their butts and wearing over sized white tees. Why should we allow this to continue, we need to stand up for our people and make a positive change. There is nothing positive about a young black male with his pants off his waist. We are indulging our youth its ok to be a thug/gangster in truly we are allowing them to FAIL. Is there a future for a thug is there a pension or retirement plan. All it is monetary hood riches and theres no longevity but life of incarceration and early DEATH.
Whos going to hire someone that cant wear his pants correctly? Then we say their being racist, and police is always picking on us change your appearance stop looking like a thug. Stop embracing this embarrassment only successful people that sag or rapper and there are in character. Rappers that are very successful charge their image to one of a businessman (JAZ-Z, Master P). Our kids need better role models DOCTERS, LAWYERS, CEOS, POLITICIANS, BUSINESS OWNERS, TEACHER. They need not to idolize Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Plies, and Tyga. Give our kids a chance to succeed instill the value of an education. I know the Ghetto parent or should I say ghetto mothers will be pitching a b**ch when their child is charge with sagging but these same parent will not attend a teacher/parent conference about their childs education. Next we need to ban tattoos on your face, forearms and hands.
BLACK MEN STEP UP AND BE A FATHER AND DON'T ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO RAISE OWN KIDS THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO SHOW US WE ARE NOT DOING OUR JOB AS FATHERS. TEACH OUR BOYS HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE MEN.

Making it a felony is a bit extreme, but personally I never did, nor understand why friends did it. It's kinda funny when some dudes I knew would complain about not being taken seriously, yet they go around showing their drawers everywhere. I had a neighbor who was in jail when this trend was still on the rise, and after he told me where it came from, and what it actually meant, I swore I'd never do it. |
